I envisaged the Sligo Gaol Boutique Hotel as a multi-functional, vibrant environment where tourists and locals mix. The space for professionals to enjoy business meetings in a relaxing atmosphere as well as a base from which tourists can experience Sligo town and the West coast of Ireland. The colour palette used is inspired by nature: soft creams and browns are accentuated by green living walls, as I wanted to reflect the beauty of the emerald island within the hotel. Instead of enclosing all available space, I created an open green area- a park within the building, to allow for a soft transition from the hotel into the vibrant town of Sligo, as well as a sheltered place for locals and visitors to mix.
