 This weeks Meet the Team is coming from YAADA. Say Hello to our new acting Head of Department DARA BURKE!

A little bit about Dara…

I am registered Architect with a particular interest in high density housing design. I am also really interested 3d modelling and visualisation and I have carried out a lot of research into adapting real time rendering engines like Unreal for use in the construction sector. I also work regularly with heritage groups on drone based 3d scanning projects to document historic structures that are in danger of collapse.

What do you do in the Faculty?

I am currently acting as Head of Department of YAADA. I normally teach in Year 3 and Year 4 of the Architecture degree programme where I lecture in Architectural Design studio as well as 3d modelling, digital fabrication, BIM and Virtual reality.

When did you join ATU Sligo?

I joined ATU in 2020 after working in industry for 15 years in Dublin as a project architect on large scale housing projects.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My main focus is spending as much time as possible with with my three young children who are six months, three and eight. I enjoy mountain biking for exercise whenever I get a chance to get out on the bike.
