MEET THE TEAM

We are DELIGHTED to bring back our popular Meet the Team feature this week!  This feature is coming to you from YAADA. WELCOME SUSAN GALAVAN!

A little bit about Susan…

I’m a Dublin-born architect and architectural historian, my passion is working with old buildings! After 14 years working in industry, I completed a masters in UCD and my PhD in Trinity College Dublin in 2013.  My PhD drew on my time in practice and was the first in depth study of the capital’s nineteenth-century houses.  After the publication of my book (Dublin’s Bourgeois Homes: building the Victorian suburbs, 1850-1901),  I moved to Belgium: where I completed a 4 year Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellowship at the KULeuven and taught (through French) at the University of Liege.  I’m delighted to return home to Ireland and to be part of ATU’s new venture!

What do you do in the Faculty

I’m an Assistant Lecturer in architecture, I teach in design studio and also courses in Visual and Material Culture and Architectural Context & Theory.

When did you join ATU Sligo

September 2022

What do you like to do in your spare time.

I love to hang out with my daughter, play tennis and walk the beach.
